As
I've stated on my rover page: I am a Single Op Rover. I drive the car,
monitor the GPS, read the map, fiddle with the the radio(s), holler
into the mic, and paper-log QSOs all by myself. I do not attempt to do
this whilst underway. My modus operandi is to move to a Great Site -
operate - and then move to the next Great Site. I monitor while driving
and I will, if I can safely, pull over and make contact(s). I don't do digital.
2023 CQ WW VHF Contest - July 15-16, 1800z Sat - 2100z Sun
My plans for the contest consist of trawling through my nearby, familiar
DM87 - DM88 - DM77 - DM78 grids.
I will update this web page as needed up through late Friday evening.
6M -- 100W + Halo
2M -- 120W + stacked Halos
SSB & cringe-worthy CW
Saturday
I will operate close in to the intersection of 38° N and 104° W -- grids
DM88, DM87, DM77, & DM78 -- in that sequence. Pointing a beam
at those coordinates should put me inside the 3 dB lobe of your antenna --
unless you are
very close. All the times given below are the pretty
much the
average time in and the
average time out over past
contest Saturdays.
(Obviously I do not move instantaneously from grid site to grid site.)
SAT #1: DM88bb: 1800z~2000z
SAT #2: DM87bw: 2000z~2200z
SAT #3: DM77xw: 2200z~2400z
SAT #4: DM78xa: 0000z~0200+z
County Hunters: Pueblo and Otero.
Sunday
I will again be operating close in to the intersection of 38° N and 104° W -- grids
DM78, DM77, DM87, & DM88 -- in the
reverse of Saturday's sequence.
Pointing a beam at those coordinates should put me inside the 3 dB lobe of your antenna.
All the times given below are the pretty much the
average time in and the
average time out over past contest Sundays.
(Obviously I do not move instantaneously from grid site to grid site.)
QTH: DM78rf47hc Enroute (1 hour) to DM78xa
SUN #1: DM78xa: 1300z~1500z
SUN #2: DM77xw: 1500z~1700z
SUN #3: DM87cx: 1700z~1900z
SUN #4: DM88bb: 1900z~2100z
County Hunters: Pueblo and Otero.
As with all human endeavors, events often overtake planning.
Up to an hour or two before the contest these truly are
my plans. Thereafter I am ruled by Murphy's Law.
Rover Wisdom
If a Rover views his situation closely enough,
he will recognize himself as part of the problem.
