WØEEA, SK

Legacy website

Presented here is the website of Jim Smith, W0EEA - SK.
For many years Jim was an active Colorado HF and VHF contester -- a member of The Grandmesa Contester Club and The Rocky Mountain VHF+ organization.

Jim, W0EEA was originally from IL, and was 62 when he passed away. He was in ill health towards the end which kept him away from his ham radio hobby. Jim (then WB9EEA) and Lou (K1TR, ex-N9KC) met in Elgin, IL where they contested with the AA9D VHF contest team. Jim's VHF rovers were legendary, including a 30 ft crank up tower and activating all bands. In Colorado, Jim's W0EEA multi-op station set records and was a beacon during VHF contests. His legacy lives large. We all miss you, Jim.

The W0EEA super VHF contest station was located in a "barn" - more like a warehouse/office - on 200 acres north of Ramah, Colorado. The QTH was in DM79, east of Kiowa, northeast of Colorado Springs and the barn was on a high spot with 360 degree view of the front range, and was close to the DM79/DM89 line.

His website is presented here - html warts and all - as last editted by Jim.
